Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's soccer posts third straight tie

SAN DIEGO - For the third straight match, the Point Loma men's soccer team will have to settle for a tie, as PLNU and Colorado School of Mines ended Saturday's contest in a scoreless draw (Sept. 10).

The Sea Lions remain undefeated in on-conference play at 1-0-3. Colorado Mines is now 1-2-1.

The match saw the teams combined for 34 shots, including 12 shots on goal, but neither team could find the net. The closest either team came was late in the second half when Nico Tagaloa headed in a ball after a scramble inside the box, but PLNU was called for offsides.

Michael Lambert made five saves for the Sea Lions en route to earning his third shutout of the season. Brady Johansen was a big part of making sure PLNU held onto the shutout and the tie, as he made a great team save on a shot early in the first half that was bound for the back of the net if he was not there. That was one of two team saves Point Loma had in the match. Colorado Mines' Leo Chely also had five saves for the Orediggers.

Chris Reingen had a match-high six shots for the Sea Lions. Tagaloa led PLNU with two shots on goal. Point Loma has now gone 245 minutes without a goal, but has also not yielded one in 274 minutes.

Point Loma will return to the pitch on Wednesday, Sept 14 at UC San Diego. The match will start at 7:00 p.m.
