FRESNO, Calif. - The Point Loma volleyball team bounced back after dropping the first two sets to Fresno Pacific to force a fifth and decisive set, but the Sea Lions came up short in a 25-22, 25-22, 24-26, 22-25 and 15-10 loss to the Sunbirds. (Sept. 23).
This was the third straight five-set match for the Sea Lions (3-9, 1-2 PacWest). They have gone 1-2 in those matches. Fresno Pacific picked up its first PacWest win of the season and improved to 3-5 (1-3 PacWest).
Samantha Krakower posted a career-high 17 kills in the match while hitting .484. She had just two errors in her 31 attempts and also added eight blocks.
Brianna Sizemore (17) and
Ashlynn Fresques (11) also reached double-figure kills for the Sea Lions. Fresques added a double-double as she registered 11 digs.
Cara Keturakis dished out 45 assists in the match and
Christin Fisher had a match-best 28 digs. Karah Mitchell paced Fresno Pacific with 22 kills and 19 digs.
The Sea Lions will have a short turnaround as they return home to face Chaminade on Monday, Sept. 26 at 7:00 p.m.
