Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

ROAD WOES; BIOLA SCORES EARLY TO DEFEAT PLNU

LA MIRADA, Calif. - Biola scored early in the match and maintained its lead throughout to defeat the Point Loma women's soccer team 1-0 on Saturday, Oct. 28.

Sarah Jeffries accounted for the lone goal of the match. She received a quality pass to score the goal off a great play from Samantha Verduzco. She snuck around a PLNU defender to save a ball from going out of play and turned it into a great cross to a teammate. Point Loma's best chance for an equalizer came in the final minute when Abbi Swanson's shot hit the crossbar and bounced straight down just outside the goal.

Team Records
Point Loma (7-7-1, 6-4-0 PacWest), Biola (10-3-2, 6-3-2 PacWest)

PacWest Implications
The result flipped the two teams in the standings. Biola is now in fifth place with 20 points. PLNU is in a tie for sixth with 18 points.

The Turning Point
The early goal by Biola seemed to take some of the wind out of the Sea Lions' sails. They seemed stunned until almost the end of the match when they made a few quality runs. However, they could never find the equalizer, allowing Jeffries' goal to hold up for the game-winner.

Words from the Hall of Wisdom
On Biola: "I give Biola credit. They came into the match with passion and they outplayed us."

On learning to win on the road: "I am not using our youth as any excuse. We have to learn to limit our mistakes."
