SAN DIEGO - For the first time in program history, the Point Loma women's soccer team had two student-athletes named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team. Seniors Morgan Pearce and Sami Swanson claimed two of the 12 spots on the All-District 8 team, which includes all 36 schools in the NCAA Division II West Region. Both Pearce and Swanson represented the Sea Lions on the Academic All-District first team.
 
This is the second straight season Pearce has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team. Pearce is just the second PLNU student-athlete has earned the honor in back-to-back seasons (Claire Mathews 2013 & 2014). In her time at Point Loma, Pearce has posted a 3.89 cumulative grade point average as a Psychology major. This year, she was named second team All-PacWest after anchoring a defensive unit that led the PacWest in shutouts (eight).
 
Swanson earned her first career CoSIDA Academic All-District honor. The senior from Huntington Beach, Calif., has a 3.95 grade point average as an Education major. She started all 17 matches in this season, and every match since the second match of her freshman season. She was named third team All-PacWest as a midfielder this season.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. The Academic All-District ® teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
