SAN DIEGO - The No. 22 ranked Point Loma men's tennis team was edged 5-4 by PacWest rivals and No. 32 Holy Names on Tuesday, Feb. 21.
 
PLNU (0-4) jumped out to a 3-2 lead in singles, getting victories in straight sets at the No. 1 spot from CJ Erion, the No. 2 spot from Brendon Millington and the No. 5 spot from Jesse Miritello. Mark Penner, playing in his first collegiate match, pushed the Hawks' Vincent Hennebell to three sets, and an extra set in two of them, but in the end he fell 7-6, 4-6 and 7-5, and the match turned to double tied at 3-3.
 
HNU jumped ahead 4-3 with an 8-3 win at No. 1s. PLNU tied the match with Erion and Miritello winning at No. 2s, 8-6, but Holy Names captured the decisive point at No. 3 doubles to win the match.
 
The Sea Lions will be back on the court at Concordia (CA) on Wednesday, Feb. 22. The match will start at 2 p.m.
