SAN DIEGO - In a matchup of top 25 teams, the No. 22 Point Loma men's tennis team fell to No. 13 UC San Diego, 9-0, in its home opener on Wednesday, Feb. 8.
 
The Tritons (1-2) grabbed the momentum by edging the Sea Lions (0-2) in doubles, two of which came down to the wire. CJ Erion and Jesse Miritello were lost in a close one, 8-6, at No. 3s to Eric Tseng and Justin Zhang. At No. 1s, Yuki Okamoto and Jack Alston pushed Alexandre Miaule and Marc Isaia to extra points were the dual partners battled back-and-forth but the Tritons got the win 9-8 (11-9).
 
Point Loma could not snap that momentum in singles and lost all six.
 
The Sea Lions will be home again this Saturday when it hosts Azusa Pacific at 1 p.m.
