AZUSA, Calif. - Yuki Okamoto grinded out a three-set, extra point victory on court 5 in singles, but unfortunately that would be the Point Loma men's basketball team's only victory in an 8-1 loss to No. 11 Azusa Pacific on Saturday, Apr. 1.
 
The Cougars are now 13-3 on the season. PLNU falls to 4-12.
 
Okamoto matched up with Shepherd Newcomb at No. 5 singles. He dropped the first set 7-5 before bouncing back to win the second set 7-6 with a 7-5 tiebreaker. The third set was a tiebreaker scenario and it would even go to extra points, where Okamoto prevailed 14-12. This was third straight singles victory for Okamoto.
 
PLNU faced some tough challenges today as APU features the No. 1 singles player in the country (Frank) and the No. 2 doubles team (Frank/Engel).
 
Point Loma will be back on the court on Tuesday, Apr. 4 to host PacWest rival, Hawaii Hilo.
