SURPRISE, Ariz. - The Point Loma men's tennis team slipped into the seventh place match at the PacWest Championships after falling to Holy Names, 5-3, on Friday, Apr. 21.
 
Early on it looked like PLNU (4-19) might pull the upset against the Hawks (5-8), which are ranked seventh in the region and 45th in the country, as they jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Brendon Millington and Jack Alston raced out to an 8-2 victory on court 2. CJ Erion and Jesse Miritello followed shortly after with an 8-4 win on court 1.
 
The match turned to singles with PLNU leading 2-1. Holy Names won on courts 2, 3 and 6 to take a 4-2 lead in the match. Miritello picked up the Sea Lions' lone singles victory on court 5 in a tiebreaker 6-2 and 7-6 (7-2). HNU closed out the match with a win on court 1.
 
The Sea Lions will face the No. 8 seed, Sonoma State, in the seventh place match on Saturday, Apr. 22 at 9 a.m.
