CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Yuki Okamoto grinded out a three-set, tiebreaker victory against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps' Jake Berber 4-6, 6-4 and 10-4 but that was the only point the PLNU men's tennis team would get as it fell to the No. 2 team in NCAA Division III, 8-1. CMS is now 19-2 on the season and PLNU drops to 4-16.
Â
Okamoto is now 5-3 when playing the No. 5 singles spot for the Sea Lions, and the freshman has won four of his last six matches. He was the only PLNU student-athlete to go three sets.
Â
The Stags opened the match with three doubles wins. Okamoto and
Grant Alston almost won on court 3 but fell 9-7. PLNU is 1-6 on the road this season.
Â
The Sea Lions will return home to host Concordia in its final home match of the season on Thursday, Apr. 13 at 2 p.m.Â
