SAN DIEGO—PLNU took on the Cal State LA Golden Eagles in their first Saturday match of the Seaside Invitational losing 3-1.
The teams split the first two sets with the Golden Eagles holding on to win the first set and the Sea Lions coming out strong in the second set to secure a win. Despite their efforts PLNU could not put the ball on the ground and Cal State LA's defense led them to wins in the next two sets to take home the victory.

Scott's Thoughts
On CSULA:
"That is a team that is trained to be super aggressive. They are going to be a high-error team, but when they keep the ball in they are really good. They found a good way to balance their aggressiveness and errors for most of the match and we just couldn't handle the pressure."
On being more competitive:
"We have to be more aggressive. Pressure (at the net) like that works because teams like ours get timid against it, and until we figure out that we have to punch back, these are the teams that are going to give us issues."
Scoring Summary
Set 1: CSULA 25, PLNU 21
Set 2: PLNU 25, CSULA 17
Set 3: CSULA 25, PLNU 17
Set 4: CSULA 25, PLNU 11
