SAN DIEGO - Â Playing in front of their biggest crowd of the season, the Point Loma men's soccer team made sure to send all the fans home happy as
Eduardo Gallardo scored the only goal of the match in the 41st minute to lift PLNU to the 1-0 victory over Azusa Pacific.

Team Records
PLNU (4-2-0, 1-0-0 PacWest), APU (0-5-0, 0-1-0 PacWest)
Â
The Turning Point
Gallardo's goal came just minutes after
Mitch Wheelon's shot was cleared off the line at the last possible moment by a defender. It seemed that APU gained a little momentum with that great defensive play, but PLNU and Gallardo answered with a score moments later and Point Loma controlled the rest of the match.

Wolf's Words
On playing under the lights: "This environment is so great for our guys. It is a dream of ours to play all our matches under the lights, but just to have a good performance and get a win is huge for us."
Â
On the win: "Azusa is much better than 0-5. They asked plenty of questions of our group, but overall for us to get a victory is huge."
Â
On culture of winning: "There is a cultural thing about winning. The past few years we didn't have a winning mentality, but this group is trying to capture that. Hopefully four wins in a row have us moving the right direction."
Â
On his team: "This is a good group and we have some quality players. Winning is about having quality players make plays in a game and ultimately that is what you are seeing."

Â
Coach Wolf on Fresno Pacific match: "This match is going to be everything we can ask for. It is going to be a really, really tough game. For us, it is important that we get healthy, rotate the group a bit and try to keep a fresh group of guys out there. If you ever go into an APU and Fresno Pacific weekend and think you have it in the bag, you're a fool. This is definitely a challenge in front of us."
