FRESNO, Calif. - When the clock hit 00:00 the Point Loma women's soccer team stood stunned after falling 2-1 to Fresno Pacific on Ramirez Field. It was not the loss that was the stunner, FPU always plays the Sea Lions tough, it was the number of uncharacteristic moves that lead to the defeat.
 
Fresno Pacific scored first on a corner kick in the 11th minute after a defensive lapse by Point Loma. They would go up 2-0 in the 30th minute after Alexis Macias beat the Sea Lions' goalie in a 1v1. Keagan Bolibol would get Point Loma back in the match just five minutes later with a goal in the 35th minute, but PLNU never found the equalizer.

Turning Point
The goal by Macias not only turned out to be the game-winner, it was also a very shocking goal for the Sea Lions to allow as was the first time since 2013 that Point Loma had allowed two straight goals to any team in conference play.

On the sluggish play: "This team cannot start a match without that edge. I know we are young but you can't use youth as an excuse. We have to go out there and play. We are very disappointed with the loss."
 
On Fresno Pacific: "I want to also give credit to Fresno Pacific. They deserved to win the game because they took care of their business. They didn't make mistakes, and they capitalized on ours. We had some chances but their goalie did a very good job against us."
 
On the mistakes: "We gave up two pathetic goals. We didn't mark on a corner kick and gave up another on an open net. After that we fought back hard but once again we dug ourselves a deep hole."
 
On the defense: "Our back four played well again tonight, we just didn't mark well on the corner kick, just like against Azusa. We've just had too many crucial errors at wrong times."
 
On his team: "You can't decide to fight only after you get knocked down. You have to come out fighting."
