HONOLULU -
Sarah Steinhaus and
Julia Glaser each scored in a 2-0 victory over Chaminade. The win extended the Point Loma women's soccer team's unbeaten streak to 13 straight matches.
Â
Glaser put PLNU on the board in the 24th minute with a penalty kick after the Silverswords were whistled for a hand-ball in the box. It was just the Sea Lions' second penalty kick of the season, but Glaser has been good on both.
Â
It was then time for Point Loma's defense to dominate. Chaminade had one shot prior to the Sea Lions' goal, but it did not even have another attempt until the 69th minute. Meanwhile, the defense even got in on the scoring for Point Loma.
Sarah Steinhaus went forward on the attack and
Abbey Teagle was able to find her on a cross right in front of the net for the score.
Â
Chaminade had chance to score in the final two minutes of their match but their shot from a free kick hit the crossbar and the Sea Lions posted their NCAA-leading 12th shutout of the season.
Â
Emma Hinson did not even have to make a save en route to recording her 11th shutout of the season. Brandee Lane made 11 saves for the Silverswords.

PacWest implications
By getting the full-points with the win, PLNU added to their lead in the PacWest standings. The Sea Lions are sitting with 22 points, six more than second-place Azusa Pacific. PLNU has played one more conference match than any other team in the PacWest. Chaminade is on the exact opposite side of the standings from PLNU with one point.

Words from coach Kiely
On the positives of the match: "We had a much better start today. We have been trying to solve that a little. We just want to start better and progress into the match better. I felt many times it was taking us a half to get going. I talked with the women about progression each game, and for this game it needed to be a good start, and I thought we did that."
Â
On her team: "The entire group made significant contributions in the game. They have done that all trip. Everyone has treated the trip very well. I applaud everyone that stepped on the field today."
Â
On earning full-points on the road: "It is a big deal on this trip. Every coach in the PacWest warned me about the difficulty of playing in Hawaii. I feel like everyone that comes here goes 1-1-1, so our challenge was 'can we be better than that?' You have a lot going against you but we have been focused on the mindset of this trip. It is a hard thing to do, it a very distracting area, and I want to continue to credit the group for handling this like a business trip."
