SAN DIEGO - The finish of the PLNU and Concordia men's soccer match was one for the ages, but unfortunately, for Point Loma it found itself on the wrong side of a 3-2 decision.
 
Things were looking very bleak for the Sea Lions late in the match as they trailed 2-1 with under 15 seconds to play, but then came a perfect sequence, which resulted in an equalizing goal as time expired in regulation. Pascal Rodriguez was able to take the ball away from the Eagles deep on PLNU's side of the field. He played a long ball to Tim Siegfried, who was able to beat two defenders. Siegfried took his shot with two seconds remaining as both teams anxiously held their breath. His shot was low and to the near side of the net, it snuck just over the goal line right before zeroes went up on the scoreboard. The referee initially waved off the goal but after a short conference with the assistant referee the goal was allowed and the match went to overtime.
 
Just 30 seconds into the extra time, Concordia took advantage of one PLNU mistake to win the match. Point Loma was trying to clear the ball, but CUI's Jafet Sanchez jumped in front of the pass and gained control. He took the ball on the attack and served up a perfect cross to Connor Gordon, who headed it in for the game-winning goal.

PacWest Implications
The result keeps PLNU in third place in the PacWest with six points. It also moves the Eagles into a tie with PLNU in the conference standings.

On the equalizing goal at the end of regulation: "It was incredible that Tim was able to do that and that the goal was allowed. I have never seen anything like it. Credit to our guys for playing till the end."
 
On the PacWest matchup: "When Point Loma, Concordia, Azusa Pacific or Fresno Pacific play each other those are all massive games. They are all six-point games."
