STREAKING SEA LIONS WIN AGAIN

SAN DIEGO - The Point Loma women's soccer team extended both their winning streak and shutout streak with a 2-0 victory over Concordia in PacWest Conference play on Thursday, Oct. 4.

Julia Glaser scored both goals for the Sea Lions. Her first came in the 22nd minute on a beautiful pair of assists from Raynee Odell and Abbey Teagle. Odell was able to win a ball at midfield and get it to Teagle on the right wing for a perfectly placed cross to Glaser for the goal. It would be Teagle and Glaser who also connected on the second goal. Following a free kick by Concordia in the 62nd minute, Teagle got out on the run with the ball on the counter attack with Glaser sprinting beside her. Teagle drew the defense and laid the ball off to an open Glaser. She took her time in the box and beat the keeper for the goal.

On the other side of the ball, the defense continued its solid play. It held Concordia to just two shots on goal in the match, only one of which challenged goalkeeper Emma Hinson. When the clock hit 0:00 PLNU had its eighth straight shutout and extended its shutout streak to 729 consecutive minutes.

Quotes from coach Kiely
On the offense: "I do think we had some really good chances, but I think we can still play even better in some way. The credit goes to the offense for getting it going."

On the match: "It was a great day for me because we got a win and still learned things about ourselves."

On Glaser: "She brings professionalism, sophistication and class with her every day. She is obviously a very strong player, but she is also one of the most humble players we have, and I really appreciate that. She is fantastic player and even a better person."

On Odell: "I thought the match changed when Raynee Odell when in. I thought Concordia had a better start than we did and Raynee came in, won a few tackles, slipped a ball through and there we are on the goal. I appreciate her work on that and I thought she was a game-changer today."

On Concordia: "I want to give credit to Concordia. They are one of the most challenging teams we have faced this season. They showed us more things we need to work on."

On conference play: "It doesn't matter where you are playing in conference the emotion, competitiveness and drive all increase. It is also increasing with our players. There is a lot of belief and trust right now. Our preseason schedule was really good preparation for us."
