HILO, Hawaii - The Hawaii Hilo Vulcans swept the Point Loma volleyball team in three sets on Saturday, Nov. 3. On the last leg of their Hawaii trip Point Loma faced one of the top teams in the conference and once again the Vulcans put up a big block to hold the Sea Lions to only a .022 hitting percentage.
With each set the Vulcans were able to further shut down Point Loma's offense, after hitting .118 in set one PLNU hit for negative percentages in sets two and three. The Sea Lions were able to play some solid defense, picking up 62 digs to the Vulcans 57.
Courtney Dyer contributed 21 digs to the effort continuing her solid performance on the trip, the freshman averaged six digs per set over the three games this week.
Kayla Chapman was the lone Sea Lion to put together a solid offensive performance, hitting .389 with nine kills and adding four blocks to the effort. With her 31 assists in the match,
Cara Keturakis surpassed 3,000 assists for her career. Keturakis currently leads the PacWest with 9.63 assists per set. The Sea Lions had their best blocking performance of their Hawaii swing (seven total blocks), but the Vulcans more than doubled their number with 15 blocks for the match.

PacWest Implications
With APU going undefeated in Hawaii on the week, they remain atop the standings at 18-2. With only three games remaining it will be difficult for the Vulcans to catch them sitting at 15-4. The Sea Lions are out of PacWest contention at 13-7 and will be a stretch to make the postseason.
