SAN DIEGO – Point Loma returned to action on Saturday afternoon when they hosted Holy Names in their first game action since Dec. 19. With a 10-day gap between games, the Sea Lions got out to a sluggish start, falling behind 20-12 after one quarter. The Hawks would be unable to contain the Point Loma offense after the first quarter as PLNU put up 71 points over the next three quarters.
The Sea Lions exploded for 28 points in the second quarter, to the Hawks 17 points, earning the three-point lead at the half. The team was able to extend their lead to as many as 11 points in the third quarter and controlled the second half. Holy Names matched the Sea Lions bucket for bucket in the fourth quarter but it wasn't enough as PLNU secure the 83-71 victory.
Cara Liggins paced Point Loma with her fifth double-double, and third in the last four games, with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Grace Brady had another breakout game against the Hawks, notching her first double-double of the season with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocks. After being held scoreless early,
Sydney Peterson totaled 17 points to go along with three assists and three rebounds.

Point Loma moves to 3-3 in conference play to put them in sixth place while Holy Names remain towards the bottom of the standings with only one conference win.
Turning Point
Sydney Peterson, held scoreless through the first 17 minutes, scored 10 points over the last 2:36 in the second quarter to give Point Loma the lead and momentum heading into the half.
