IRVINE, Calif. - The Sea Lions pushed their winning streak to the three games as they went to Irvine and took care of business against the Eagles on Wednesday afternoon. It was a close match throughout the day but Point Loma found a way to get wins when they needed them. 

The women started with singles play and Gabi Armas, playing the No. 6 position, grabbed a quick win, 6-1, 6-0, to give the Sea Lions an early advantage. The teams would trade wins and were tied 2-2 before Point Loma earned big wins from Carolina Cuevas Bucio and Shelby Groeneveld to complete singles play with a 4-2 advantage. After winning her first set 7-5 in singles play, Groeneveld powered to a 6-0 second set victory to get that fourth point for PLNU. 

While doubles play favored the Eagles overall, it was the first win that mattered. Ellie Gamble and Nicole Camaratta, playing at the No. 3 position, dominated their match winning 8-1 and sealing the victory for the Sea Lions. Point Loma dropped their doubles matches at Nos. 1 and 2 but the overall match score gave PLNU their third win in the last week.
