SAN DIEGO - After postponing their match one day due to rain, the Sea Lions and the Tritons competed this afternoon with UCSD coming away with the 6-3 win. The Tritons were up 3-0 after doubles play and while Point Loma made a push to get back into the match, they were unable to secure the points they needed to come away with a win. 

Despite losing all three doubles matches, each pairing battled throughout their match. Nikki Newell and Shelby Groeneveld, competing at No. 1 for doubles, fought to a tough 8-6 loss. Partners Ellie Gamble and Nicole Camaratta would not go down without a fight either, as they fell in a hard fought 8-7 match. 

With a big hole to climb out of going into singles, the Sea Lions needed a quick win to help push momentum in their favor. It would be UCSD, though, who put their fourth point on the board with a win at No. 4 singles to put Point Loma up against a wall. The next three matches would go to the Sea Lions with big wins from Michelle Torres at No. 6 singles and Carolina Cuevas at No. 2 singles to cut the Triton lead to two. Gabi Armas, playing at No. 5 singles, battled through a three-set match and came away with another win for Point Loma. Down 4-3, the Sea Lions needed wins in both of the remaining matches. The fifth point would go to UCSD when Nikki Newell dropped a tough three-set match at No. 1 singles. The Sea Lions would fall in another three-set battle at No. 3 singles with Shelby Groeneveld falling 6-4, 5-7, 6-7.
