REVENGE IS SWEET! PLNU WINS 5-4 OVER CUI

SAN DIEGO - After losing a heartbreaking match on the road to the Eagles, the Sea Lions looked to even the season series with a win on their home court. Point Loma fell behind 1-2 after doubles play but they would earn the four wins they needed in singles play. Once again the match would be tied at 4-4 with one singles match to play and this time it was Jack Alston who pulled out a tough three-set win to put the match in the win column for PLNU.

Thomas Dafcik helped spur the Sea Lions victory as he went 2-0 on the day, including grabbing the lone doubles win with partner Yuki Okamoto. The pair is now 8-2 since partnering for doubles competition. After falling in the first doubles match the Eagles bounced back and won the remaining two matches, taking a 2-1 lead into singles play.

CJ Erion, playing at No. 5 singles, would even the match at 2-2 with his 6-1, 6-4 win. The Eagles would regain the match lead with a win at No. 3 singles, but the Sea Lions would then take two straight matches to take the 4-3 lead. Dafcik won his match 6-1, 7-5, with Millington following shortly after winning 7-6, 6-4. The Eagles were able to even the match at 4-4 with the No. 4 singles match as the deciding point. Jack Alston was able to pull out a victory for Point Loma in a three-set battle. After taking his first set 6-4 he fell 5-7 in the second set, but he overpowered his opponent in the third set with a dominating 6-1 win to secure the match for the Sea Lions.
