SAN DIEGO - Point Loma celebrated their senior day on Saturday afternoon hosting the 12th ranked Cougars of Azusa Pacific. After earning a tough win in their last match on Tuesday, the Sea Lions hoped to play spoiler in yet another match against one of the top teams in the country. The men were able to have a better showing after a sweep when the teams played in Azusa, but despite some solid efforts from PLNU the Cougars came away with the 7-2 win. 

The teams began with doubles play and the Cougars would earn a quick win at No. 1 doubles, despite splitting up the top-ranked doubles pair in the country, Oliver Frank and Christian Schmid. Frank and Pejic took the first point with an 8-3 win over Jack Alston and Brendon Millington. CJ Erion and Grant Alston would also fall on court 3, 8-4, to give APU the 2-0 lead. Christian Schmid would play with Jakob Schnaitter at No. 2 doubles and they fell to Yuki Okamoto and Thomas Dafcik who won their 11th doubles match on the season. 

The Sea Lions were left with work to do as they needed four wins to take the match, but it would be all APU through singles play. The Cougars were able to come away with two quick wins on courts 3 and 4 to push their lead to 4-1 for the match. They would clinch the victory with a 6-3, 6-0 win in the No. 6 singles match and would go on to win at both Nos. 1 and 2 to take the 7-1 lead. CJ Erion, playing in his final home match of his career, was able to come away with the 6-4, 6-4 win to give the Sea Lions the final point of the match.
