SAN DIEGO - Point Loma fell despite a tough battle last week against a tough Hawaii Hilo team, after a week off the team seemed primed to earn a a win over a Biola team they had beaten earlier in the season. The team earned a 7-2 win in the previous matchup and this time the Sea Lions were able to earn the 8-1 win playing on their home court. 

PLNU got out to a great start with a doubles sweep despite facing some tough pairings from the Eagles. Thomas Dafcik and Yuki Okamoto earned their team-leading ninth doubles win of the season taking their No. 2 match 8-5. Jack Alston and Brendon Millington also earned a solid 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles for their sixth win in their last ten doubles matches. 

Singles was much of the same story for the Sea Lions as they took five of the six matches. Dafcik won his sixth straight match and his 14th overall to lead the team in singles wins. Jack Alston also earned a win on court five, 6-2, 6-3, to earn his 10th singles win of the season, the second most for PLNU. Three of the six matches went to three sets with Point Loma coming away winners in two of those matches, both Brendon Millington and Tim Soderman were able to grind out tough points to earn wins. Okamoto was the lone Sea Lion to take a loss, but put up a solid effort falling in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 10-5.

On the team grinding out a solid win: "The Men's team had a strong win today against a tough and gritty opponent in Biola. Starting the match with a doubles sweep was a huge momentum boost going into singles."

On preparing to face tough regional opponents this week: "The guys have two big regional matches next week at home against UCSD and APU. Our team's level of play has raised a good amount since we played both of these teams earlier in the season so we are excited to take them on at home. The guys will be ready to bring their best to both of these matches."

Point Loma has two important regional matches this week as they host UC San Diego on Tuesday afternoon and Azusa Pacific on Saturday. Tuesday's match is scheduled for 3 p.m. while Saturday's match will begin at 11 a.m.
