SAN DIEGO - After a rough outing on Thursday when the Sea Lions fell 1-8 to UC San Diego, Point Loma was able to bounce back with a huge 9-0 win over Biola. This was the second time these teams had faced off this season and in both matches the Sea Lions were able to come away with the sweep.
Playing a doubleheader with the men's programs the women began with singles play where two Sea Lions were able to come away with wins without dropping a set. Both
Carolina Cuevas and
Ellie Gamble won their respective matches with scored of 6-0, 6-0.
Nicole Camaratta saw just her fifth appearance in a singles match this season and came away with the 6-2, 6-1 win on court six. The Eagles struggled to win single games with Point Loma holding them to two or fewer victories in every set but one.
Gabi Armas played at the number three position for the second time this season and has come away with wins in each of those instances.
With the 6-0 lead after singles the Sea Lions were able to keep their competitiveness high and came away with three more wins in doubles play to secure their seventh sweep of the season.
Taylor McGowan and
Madison McKay competed in doubles for the first time as partners this season and were able to come away with the 8-3 win in No. 3 doubles play. Point Loma now has a week to prepare for a huge match against Azusa Pacific next weekend that could have major postseason implications as the team is sitting in fifth place in the regional rankings, just outside of those teams who go to the regional tournament.
