SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – In their second match of the day, Point Loma faced an undefeated Cal State LA team. While the Sea Lions battled throughout the match, the Golden Eagles proved to be too much for them to overcome.
The two teams traded points to begin the match but a six-point run by the Golden Eagles gave them the edge they needed to hold off PLNU for the 25-19 first set win. Point Loma jumped out to an early 5-1 lead in set two and was able to extend their lead to six points on several occasions in the set, holding on for the 25-21 win to even the match at one set apiece. CSLA came back on the attack in sets three and four putting together long stretches of points to put the match out of reach for PLNU.
Cara Keturakis had another solid match running the offense, totaling 41 assists, seven digs, and four kills. Freshman,
Rachael Schlect, continues to make her mark in her first season as she tallied her second double-double of the season with a team-leading 15 kills to go along with 12 digs.
Celeste Friesen continues her solid play at the libero position and tallied 21 digs in the match.
