Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

THE 1-0 RUN CONTINUES

SAN DIEGO - The Point Loma women's soccer team won its third match in the past five days by the score of 1-0, defeating Colorado Christian in a non-conference match on Monday, Sept. 10.

Abbey Teagle scored the lone goal of the match in overtime in the 99th minute of play. The Sea Lions worked the ball into the box to Raynee Odell, who took a shot but the defender blocked it. She quickly recovered and passed to Teagle streaking to the back post. Teagle put her foot out to receive the pass and the defender desperately tried to break it up, but it just nicked off her foot before hitting Teagle's leg and going into the back of the net.

This was the third straight shutout for Point Loma. Emma Hinson also registered her third straight clean sheet without making a save. The Cougars' Ireland VanDyke had four saves.

Words From Coach Kiely
On the goal: "We were getting up the field and imposing our way. It was our holding mid that made that pass to Teagle. I didn't see the goal too well; at that point I was just happy to see it go in the net."

On the shutout: "Getting a clean sheet is something we value tremendously, so great job to all the women on the field today. We did a much better job keeping the ball higher up the field today."

On the Sea Lions' attack: "We still have took work on our final-third presence, but we took another step closer today. Our middles and forwards are all creating opportunities but we have to get better in the final-third. There were some very tired legs today but were able to come away with the three points, but we are going to have to get better to stay alive in the PacWest."

On Colorado Christian: "I appreciated them coming out and the way they played. They have a lot of good qualities that they will take into the RMAC."

On the three matches in five days: "The scheduling certainly isn't ideal, but this is a great test for us. I am thankful we came out 3-0 and almost injury-free from this little mini-series."
