SEA LIONS EXTEND WINNING, SHUTOUT STREAKS AT BIOLA

LA MIRADA, Calif. - The Point Loma women's soccer team won its fourth straight match by the score of 1-0 as it defeated Biola in a non-conference contest on Wednesday, Sept. 19.

Julia Glaser once again delivered the game-winning goal for PLNU. In the 75th minute she was able to collect a loose ball at the top of the 18-yard box. She made a quick spin and took a shot on goal. Her ball was perfectly placed, just inside the left post. It was her third goal of the season and put Point Loma up 1-0 with 15 minutes to go.

The Sea Lions were able to clamp down defensively down the stretch to earn their third straight road win, and their fourth straight victory overall.

Words from Coach Kiely
On Biola: "This is always a tough place to play. They are a great opponent and it's always fun to play under the lights."

On building momentum: "This was a good win and it helps us get some momentum heading into PacWest play."

On areas of needed improvement: "We still need to be better job finishing our opportunities. I am not complaining after a win but I believe we have the ability to finish better and I would like to start seeing more of that."

On Julia Glaser: "She had one of her best performances tonight. She was strong defensively and was on the ball quite a bit tonight. She had a world-class finish on her goal. She also has some players around her that can provide her help and I'd like to see them step into those roles. It would be great to keep playing off Julia."

On the defense: "The backs continued to do well holding us in the game and in our attack. Emma got another clean sheet. I was pleased with the defending from all 11 on the field."

On PLNU going into PacWest play: "I feel we are in a good spot all the way around heading into the PacWest. I just want to see progress each game and I feel we have done a good job of that. Each game I feel there is always progress in another area."
