Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

SIEGFRIED FUELS SEA LIONS' LATE COMEBACK

BELMONT, Calif. - The Point Loma men's soccer team capitalized on a crucial error by Notre Dame de Namur to come from behind with less than nine minutes left and earn a 2-1 road victory in overtime.

Despite being down 1-0, all the momentum swung to the Sea Lions when NDNU's Grant Smith picked up his second yellow card in the 71st minute. From that point on, PLNU was the aggressors on offense and gained an extra step on defense.

Tim Siegfried came through with the equalizer in the 81st minute when he found space in the box and beat his defender for the score. The match then went to overtime and again Siegfried delivered a golden goal.

Just 32 seconds into the extra period, PLNU was able to steal an Argonauts' pass and Indiana Fuller found Siegfried in position at the top of the box. He did not miss his chance to give his team the road win as he drilled the ball past the outstretched hands of the defenders for his second golden goal in the last four matches.

Turning Point
Playing 11v10 changed the entire match for Point Loma. After NDNU's student-athlete earned the red card, Point Loma played with more passion and determination. The goals came after that point. That was the moment, which turned the tides of a loss into a miraculous road win.

Wolf's Words
On the win: "To get full points out of this is pretty amazing. I would have taken just one point after the way game played out. We feel very fortunate to get full points."

On Tim Siegfried: "I think we might have found something today with our set-up at the end. Tim is on fire right now. He is getting a lot chances and scoring a bunch of goals."

On team sticking with it all match: "I was really proud of the guys to keep going and the playing. I think the effort of the guys and the performances were very encouraging. As much as Tim scores two goals, I think Finn Tiedemann changed the game with his play in the middle of the field. I am excited for the group and happy they figured out a way to get three points."

On the red card: "The red card changed everything."
