SAN FRANCISCO - The Point Loma women's soccer team is on a roll. The Sea Lions collected their third straight PacWest win, and seven consecutive win overall, with a 2-0 victory at Academy of Art. (Sept. 29)
 
Abbey Teagle scored the first goal in the 12th minute on a beautiful set of passes that resulted in a double assist by Ashlee Smith and Bella Diaz. Smith played the ball through to the end line and Diaz crossed it to the far side of the goal to Teagle for the tap in.
 
The second goal also came with a double assist after a nifty set of passes off a corner kick. In the 56th minute, Abbi Swanson took the corner and tapped it to Diaz. She crossed the ball into London Gailey who got a head on it and laid it off to Madelon Denbaugh on the right side of the net. The senior defender did not miss her opportunity at the goal as she hammered it past an oncoming goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
 
In the victory, PLNU posted its seventh straight shutout and extended its consecutive minute shutout streak to 639. Emma Hinson had two saves en route to earning her sixth shutout of the season.

On earning two wins over the weekend: "I told the girls before the match that is was going to be a very different type of test for us, but maybe one of the most important. The second match on the road can be very difficult, and I was impressed with the women. I thought for the entire match that they were sharp and was major progress for us. We are just trying to make progress every day."
 
On building team depth: "I think that everyone that stepped on the field did their job and that is all we ask of them. This was another area of progress for us today."
 
On the seniors: "I thought our senior group showed a lot of leadership today and they have been all year. This was a difficult game and they an excellent job to lead the team. They kept their teammates sharp and did a great job with the energy. Denbaugh won every ball, Bella was all over the field, Ashlee was doing her part and Keagan was very solid on defense."
