POMONA, Calif. - The Point Loma women's soccer team made
Julia Glaser's goal in the 14th minute stand up for a 1-0 victory on the road against Cal Poly Pomona.
Â
The match's lone goal came on a corner kick from
Abbi Swanson. Glaser was able to find position in the box and rise above the crowd to head in her first goal as a Sea Lion.
Â
With the lead in hand, the Point Loma team played quality defense over the next 76 minutes to preserve the lead and earn the victory. The Broncos outshot the Sea Lions 10-4 in the match, but
Emma Hinson stopped both CPP's shots on goal to post the shutout.

Quotes from coach Kiely
On scoring in set pieces: "They are executing well. I give the players full credit on those. We don't spend a lot of time on them, but when we do they listen and executed them well. It was a great goal by Julia and a great delivery by Abbi."
Â
On the defense: "I thought our backline was good, especially our centerbacks. Cal Poly Pomona is a good team with some size from a good conference. It felt like we survived a little bit at the end, but that was what we ask them to do. Hinson, 'wow,' that is all I have to say. I was very impressed with her this evening."
