SAN DIEGO - Seattle Pacific scored two first-half goals, four minutes apart, to stun the Point Loma men's soccer team with a 2-1 defeat.
Â
Titus Grant scored the first goal in the 18th minute and Travis Swallow added the second in the 22nd minute when he chipped the ball over the keeper.
Tanner Sartwell got Point Loma on the scoreboard with his first career goal in the 41st minute. He was able to run into the box and get on the end of a pass from
Andrew Kleszewski in front of the net.
Â
In the second half, Point Loma outshot SPU 6-4 and had a great look on goal when
Finn Tiedemann was able to get behind the defense for a 1v1 with the keeper. However, SPU's goalie Lars Helleren was able to get his gloves on Tiedemann's shot and deny Point Loma on its best scoring chance of the second half.
Â
Helleren finished the game with one save.
Connor McEwen made four saves for PLNU.

The Turning Point
The second goal by SPU meant PLNU would have to fight to just get a point out of the match. The second goal brought a little panic and desperation from PLNU to try and not drop its second straight match at home.
Â
Wolf's Words
On SPU's Titus Grant: "He is a good player that can really stretch the field. Whenever you have a guy like that pacing in the wide position you have to be sharp on defense, but he was able to get behind us and took the first chance very well."
Â
On the impact of giving up two early goals: "The mathematical chances of coming back when you spot another team two goals is very small. Our first 20 minutes were really poor, and we got what we deserved."
Â
On the next match vs. Fort Hays State: "We have to figure this out as a group, and we aren't even close to being there."
