SAN DIEGO– The Sea Lions hosted Holy Names on Saturday evening for their second match in as many days. After opening their three-game home stand with a win on Friday night, Point Loma was able to repeat their success with a three game sweep of the Hawks. The team got solid contributions across the roster and played a total game to get the victory.
The Sea Lions offensive efficiency allowed them to keep the Hawks at bay any time they attempted to put together a run. Holy Names put together a solid defensive presence, not allowing PLNU to get any easy points, but the hitters battled with every swing and found ways to put the ball down. As a team, Point Loma totaled only five hitting errors in the match and came in with a season-high hitting percentage of .358. Their serve receive and passing looked to take a step forward as well with only three receiving errors on the night.
Jaime Cymbaluk led the Sea Lions in kills once again, totaling 12 for the match on a .407 hitting percentage.
Kayla Chapman led the charge early in the match swinging for 10 kills in only two sets of action.
Celeste Friesen and
Courtney Dyer paced the defense with 12 and 11 digs, respectively.
