SAN DIEGO –
Daulton Hommes scored 36 points and the No. 10 Point Loma men's basketball team dominated from the opening tip to defeat Dominican 94-57. The win set a new conference record as the Sea Lions became the first team to ever open the PacWest season at 13-0.
The Sea Lions jumped out of the gate on a 10-2 run and led by 24 points in the first half. The Penguins would never get closer than 20 points in the second half as PLNU went up by as much as 43 points.
Hommes went 14-of-22 from the field, 5-of-11 from 3-point range and 3-of-4 at the free throw line to post his 36 points. He added seven rebounds and three steals.
Preston Beverly posted his first double-double of the new year with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Ziggy Satterthwaite hit 6-of-7 shots from the field to also reach double figures with 12 points. Sam Averbuck paced the Penguins with 13 points.

PacWest Implications
The win by PLNU, coupled with the win by Concordia, kept Point Loma 2.5 games up in the PacWest standings. The loss dropped Dominican into 11th place at 2-10 in conference play.
