HONOLULU -
Madie Fox was dominant in the middle, recording 13 kills and a .320 hitting percentage, but it was not enough to overcome Hawaii Pacific in its home gym as Point Loma volleyball team fell in straight sets on Friday, Oct. 25.
Â
Fox posted her third straight match with double-figure kills and a hitting percentage over .300. However, she was the only Sea Lion to reach double-digits in kills.
Cara Keturakis posted 27 assists, and
Courtney Dyer had 15 digs.
Claire Smith recorded a career-high five blocks. Perla Escobar led Hawaii Pacific with 15 kills. She also got help from Cameryn Collie, who recorded 14 kills and a .333 hitting percentage.
Â
After dropping the first two sets, Point Loma showed a lot of fight in set 3. The Sea Lions fought back from a 13-9 deficit to take a 22-19 lead. After a 3-0 spurt by HPU tied the match at 22-22, the teams traded points until it was 26-26. The Sharks then received a kill from Collie before the match ended on a hitting error by PLNU.

On the match: "This Hawaii trip is always tough. We didn't do what we needed to show up prepared tonight."
