Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

SEA LION TRIO COMBINES FOR 67 POINTS BUT PLNU FALLS

SAN DIEGOKaden Anderson, Ben Okhotin, and Sterling Somers combined to score 67 points, but it was not enough for the Point Loma men's basketball team to overcome Seattle Pacific in a regional matchup as PLNU fell, 96-89, on Saturday, Nov. 30.

The Sea Lions jumped out to a 13-5 lead, and they seemed to be getting anything they wanted to offensively before the Falcons made some adjustments and fought back to tie the score at 46-46 at halftime. SPU opened the second half on a 9-1 run to take the lead, and the Falcons would never give it back.

PLNU chipped away and got Falcons' advantage down to one (76-75) with 6:16 remaining, but SPU answered by scoring on each of its next four possessions to push its lead back to nine (86-77) with just over four minutes remaining.

Once again the Sea Lions had a run in them. Okhotin hit a 3-pointer, and Anderson followed with a layup and a free throw to cut it back to three (86-83). Seattle Pacific then drew up a play for their freshman post, Shaw Anderson, who scored in the paint with 1:33 left to push the lead back to five. Brock Mackenzie came down and hit a layup to bring it back to a one-possession game (88-85). But just as he had done all game, SPU's Divant'e Moffitt had the response. With the shot clock winding down, he sunk a deep 3-pointer to push the lead back to six points with under a minute left, and then he made 5-of-6 free throws in the final 41 seconds to seal the game.

Moffitt finished the game with 29 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists. He was 11-of-12 from the free throw line and 8-of-14 from the floor. Anderson posted his second double-double of the season to lead PLNU with 27 points and 10 rebounds. He went 7-of-9 from the field and 13-of-18 at the free throw line. Ben Okhotin went 5-of-9 from 3-point range en route to posting a career-high 23 points. Sterling Somers shot 6-of-8 to post 17 points. Brock Mackenzie also reached double-figures with 10 points.
