Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

SEA LIONS HIT CENTURY MARK TO WIN LOGIE'S DEBUT

SAN DIEGO – It might be a new coach on the sideline and many new faces on the team, but once again Golden Gym was rocking as the Point Loma men's basketball team won its season debut over Humboldt State, 102-91. (Nov. 8)

The entire student section was packed as they cheered on their Sea Lions to the highest-scoring game in a season opener since 2007-08. Newcomer Darnell Robateau led four Sea Lions in double figures with 23 points on 7-of-12 shooting. He also added four assists and nine rebounds in his Sea Lions' debut. Ben Okhotin scored 18 points in his first career start for PLNU, which included hitting four 3-pointers in a two-minute span in the second half. Kaden Anderson posted his first career double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Sterling Somers had 16 points and seven rebounds.

The duo of RaySean Scott Jr. and Leland Green powered the Lumberjacks' offense. Scott scored a game-high 33 points on 11-of-22 shooting. He also had eight rebounds and three blocks. Green posted 31 points. He was 10-of-18 from the field and 6-of-9 from 3-point range.

Point Loma took a little time out of the gate to find their rhythm, but once they did, the Sea Lions' offense looked nearly unstoppable. After spotting HSU a 15-6 lead, PLNU fought back with a 23-10 run to take a lead into the half (42-39). After trading baskets, Humboldt State cut the lead to one (47-46), but Okhotin started raining 3-pointers, and he helped push the Sea Lions' lead into double figures at 56-46. HSU would cut the deficit back to five, but they would never get closer. A late 10-2 run by PLNU between the four and six-minute marks helped seal the game.

PLNU finished the contest shooting .523 percent from the field (34-of-65) and .478 percent from long range (11-of-23).
