SAN DIEGO – Point Loma hosted the Biola University Eagles in a quick turnaround following their match yesterday. Coming off of two straight wins, the Sea Lions looked to keep their momentum running to finish out the week. Once again the teams played to clinch so it was a battle to see who could win four points first. PLNU would come out on top with the 4-2 victory, pushing their win streak to three.
The teams started with doubles play and it was a battle across all three courts.
Mark Vasat and
Mark Penner would earn the first win of the day 6-4 at No. 3. The Eagles evened the doubles score at 1-1 taking a 6-4 win of their own at No. 2.
Thomas Dafcik and
Yuki Okamoto were able to close out doubles play and earn the point for their team with the 7-5 win.
Biola evened the match at 1-1, grabbing the first singles win on court three. Vasat put together a solid outing in his singles match and earned the first singles win for the Sea Lions on the afternoon, 6-2, 6-2. The Eagles would even the match once again at two points each, earning the win on court two, 6-0, 6-4. Dafcik earned the next point for PLNU, battling it out in his first set 7-5, before blanking his opponent 6-0 in the second set to earn the win.
Scott Wheeler clinched the match for Point Loma on court four. After dropping his first set, 2-6, he came back to win the next two 6-3, 6-1.
