MARCHING ON TO THE TITLE GAME

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – The No. 10 ranked and No. 1 seeded Point Loma men's basketball team is moving onto the title game of the PacWest Championships for the second time in three seasons. The Sea Lions advanced to the championship game with a 77-65 victory over No. 4 seed Azusa Pacific in the semifinals on Friday, Mar. 8.
 
Preston Beverly's double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds led PLNU, which never trailed after the 13-minute mark in the first half. The Sea Lions were ahead 32-24 at the half before seeing their lead cut to three (40-37) with 16:08 left. PLNU answered with an 8-0 spurt to push the lead back to double figures, and APU would never get closer than eight points the rest of the game.
 
Josh Rodriguez added 14 points, four assists, and five steals. Daulton Hommes kept his streak of scoring in double figures in all 29 games this season as he posted 10 points to go along with six rebounds. Ben Okhotin came off the bench to hit two 3-pointers and score 12 points in 14 minutes of play. Darien McClain paced APU with 19 points.

The Sea Lions will face No. 2 seed Concordia in the PacWest Championship game on Saturday, Mar. 9 at 2 p.m. This will be the third meeting of the year between the two teams. Each won on their home floor during the regular season.
