AZUSA, Calif. – Point Loma traveled to face Azusa Pacific University for their penultimate regular season match of the season. The No. 15 Cougars were a tough test for the Sea Lions as they looked to try and even the season series after dropping the match in San Diego to open their season. The Cougars came out strong taking the early doubles point and earned the sweep 4-0.
APU was able to collect two quick wins in doubles play. The Cougars took the matches at Nos. 3 and 1 doubles, respectively to clinch the doubles point. Both matches finished with a score of 6-2. With the doubles point secured, the No. 2 doubles match went unfinished.
The Sea Lions were competitive in singles play, but APU remained too much for them to overcome.
Tim Soderman was the first to drop his match, 6-2, 6-3.
Scott Wheeler, who has been on e of the most consistent players for PLNU this season, was unable to come away with a win, falling 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4. Down 0-3, it was
Yuki Okamoto who fell next for Point Loma, losing 6-3, 6-3 on court two.

On the message going into tournament play: "The message after the match was that we had opportunities in every match which is good against a highly ranked team. The climate conditions today were very similar to Arizona so this should help prepare us for the conference tournament."
On how the HNU match on Wednesday can help prepare them for PacWests: "I believe having the HNU match on Tuesday will give us a great opportunity to find our rhythm and make necessary adjustments before the conference tournament."
