LA MIRADA, Calif. – As Point Loma continues their end of season stretch on the road, they traveled to face Biola on Saturday afternoon. The teams met one another back on March 16, when the Sea Lions earned the 4-2 win on their home court. The Eagles hoped to get revenge on their home court, but Point Loma put together a solid effort, taking the match 4-1.
Once again, PLNU was able to come out strong in doubles play early.
Thomas Dafcik and
Yuki Okamoto earned their third-straight doubles win, 6-2, giving the Sea Lions the early advantage. Biola was able to even the doubles score, 1-1, taking the win at No. 3 doubles but it would be
Scott Wheeler and
Tim Soderman who secured the doubles point with the 6-3 win on court two.
Playing to clinch, Point Loma needed just three singles wins to earn the win. The Eagles threatened early, taking the first singles match of the day to even the match at 1-1, but the Sea Lions answered with the next three wins.
Thomas Dafcik earned his 10
th win of the season, 6-3, 6-1, to put the team up 2-1, followed by
Jasdeep Paintal grabbing a win at No. 6 singles. Paintal earned his first set win 7-6(7-2) and proceeded to dominate the next set, winning 6-3.
Scott Wheeler clinched the match for PLNU winning 6-4, 7-6(8-6), earning his seventh singles win of the season.
