AZUSA, Calif. - The Point Loma women's soccer team was edged 1-0 at Azusa Pacific in a non-conference matchup on Thursday, Sept. 26.
 
Abi Hume scored the only goal of the match in the 20th minute on a loose ball in the box, and the Cougars' defense was able to keep the Sea Lions' out of the net for the win.
 
Despite the look of being outshot 18-10 (9-6 on shots on goal), Point Loma had numerous quality opportunities near the net but could not finish.  Abbey Teagle led Point Loma with five shots (four on goal).
 
Emma Hinson made a career-high eight saves in the match and her counterpart, Jennifer Kovisto, made six.

On Azusa Pacific: "APU has always been a great host. This is a fun place to come play, and tonight this APU team came ready to play. In the first 15 they played really well and were all over us. After that we had more of the run of play, and it looked like we had the ball in our attacking third for a lot of the game, but we weren't able to execute that final push, so the scoreline is what it is."
 
On the Sea Lions' bouncing back for Saturday: "The 'bounce back' is because of the results but not because of the play. You certainly want to win games, but I keep fairly pleased with our play, but not our final product. That is something we are going to have to continue to get better at."
 
On what PLNU needs to do to be ready for Saturday: "We need to get healthy. We may have lost a few more people tonight. That has unfortunately been a mark of our season to this point, but we don't want it to dictate our season with so much of it left. We need to get some rest and get ready for Biola."
