SAN DIEGO – The Sea Lions went toe-to-toe with Cal Poly but could not quite squeak out a victory as they fell 5-2.
During doubles, Cal Poly would capture the first match, winning 6-2.
Angelique Friedrich and
Samantha Neilson grinded out a win for PLNU beating their opponents 6-4. With one match to go the teams were knotted up.
Rachel Whittington and
Faith Pearson would give it their all but come up just short falling 7-5. Cal Poly took a 1-0 lead into singles play.
The Sea Lions fought tough the first four matches but would fall in all of them.
Samantha Neilson gave Point Loma a point defeating her opponent in what was a battle back and forth. Neilson won the first set 7-5 but then dropped the second set 6-0. She rebounded nicely and won the third set 10-2 giving PLNU their first point of the day.
Angelique Friedrich gave PLNU their second point defeating her opponent in straight sets by a score of 7-5 and 6-4.
PLNU showed heart and hustle but came up just short in their third match of the year.
