SEA LIONS GET BACK ON TRACK WITH 6-0 WIN AT CHAMINADE

HONOLULU, Hawaii--- As the regular season winds down, the Point Loma Sea Lions (8-3-1 overall, 5-1-0 PacWest) need to pick up every point was on full display in their 6-1 win over the Chaminade SilverSwords (2-7-0 overall, 0-5-0 PacWest) Monday afternoon.
"I think we're hungry," Point Loma Head Coach Phil Wolf said of the final stretch of the year. "We were super disappointed with the last result. The guys were really ready to go today"
Teague Anderson took Parker Scalzo's cross from the right side of the box and hammered it back from the left side to give Point Loma a 1-0 lead just 11 minutes in.
"It was our best performance of the year against Hawaii Pacific, we just didn't take those chances."  Wolf said. "Today we were able to score and we took the chances that were needed."
The Sea Lions added an insurance goal in the 35th minute after Chaminade failed to clear the ball and a deflected laded at the feet of  Eusebio, who chipped the keeper to double the lead to 2-0 into the half.
Point Loma's offense converted multiple chances quickly in the second half.
Scalzo found himself in front of the keeper in the 55th minute and cashed in the chance while Lucas Purgato took advantage of a penalty to extend the score to 4-0.
Eusebio scored his second after being setup by Austin Lavell in the 62nd minute, delivering the ball to the upper right corner of the goal and extending Point Loma's lead to 5-0.
Abel Balogh setup the Sea Lion's final goal in the 73rd minute, pulling the keeper out towards the top of the box and delivering a pass to a wide open Reggie Duce who tapped the ball into an open goal making it 6-0.
"I'm super proud of these guys. The guys have been doing great all year." Wolf added. "We've only lost to a couple top teams. It's a good group. We're excited to see how the year finishes."
Chaminade added their lone goal in the 77th minute to break-up the shutout.
"We were able to get some minutes off some guys legs and that was huge with the short turnaround." Wolf finished. "We need to be ready for Wednesday."
Point Loma complete their island tour in a massive showdown with Hawaii-Hilo at 5:30pm PT Wednesday afternoon.
