AZUSA, Calif---A pair goals in the latter part of the first half sunk the Point Loma Sea Lions (9-4-1 overall, 6-2-0 PacWest) 2-0 to the Azusa Pacific Cougars (10-2-2 overall, 6-1-1 PacWest) Thursday night at the Cougar Soccer Complex.
James Ndubueze scored both goals five minutes apart for the Cougars as APU peppered the goal throughout the night.
Point Loma was on the defense for much of the match, but mustered all six of their shots in the first half.
APU ended the night putting 13 of their 26 shots on goal, forcing 11 saves from
Seth Ketterer.
Point Loma's best chances resulted in corners as the Sea Lions held the edge 9-5.
But the 12-7 foul differential favored Azusa, and the Cougars never let up the attack, even being penalized for four offside calls.
Point Loma will have the weekend to regroup before hosting Dominican on Monday, November 8
th in a make-up game. The match will start at Noon on the PLNU Soccer Field.
