A PERFECT DAY ON THE PITCH

Dos a Cero: Sea Lions blank the Eagles

The goals (video)

SAN DIEGO
- Things could not have gone better for the Point Loma women's soccer team in its return to play. Courtney Seman and Kourtney Kessler each recorded their first career goals, and the Sea Lions' defense was dominant in a 2-0 season-opening win over Biola.

Seman scored the first goal of the match in the 30th minute when she hit a shot from eight yards out, off a throw-in from Naomi Ellis. Kourtney Kessler extended the Sea Lions' lead in the 71st minute. The freshman took a pass from Makenna Herrero, maneuvered to get space and fired it from outside the 18-yard box into the left corner of the net.

Once Seman notched the first goal the match was not in doubt as the Sea Lions' defense gave the Eagles no room to operate. Biola had just three shots all match (two on goal), and it did not take a shot in the second half. PLNU finished the match outshooting BU 22-3 and controlling the ball 66 percent of the time.

Turning Point
