SAN DIEGO – The Point Loma women's tennis team won their second straight match over Metro State – Denver by a score of 6-1. The win puts PLNU over a .500 win percentage for the first time this season.
Point Loma jumped on the Roadrunners early by gaining the advantage in doubles play.
Rachel Whittington and
Thelma Sepulveda won their match 6-4 to give the Sea Lions some early momentum.
Gabi Armas and
Angelique Friedrich then carried that wave of momentum into a win in the No. 1 position, defeating their opponents 7-5. PLNU would head to singles play up 1-0.
Point Loma took care of business in singles play winning five of the six matches.
Rachel Whittington made quick work of her opponent winning her match 6-4 and 6-1. The next three Sea Lions also won their matches to put PLNU up 5-0 and in sole possession of the match. PLNU would split the final two matches. The Sea Lions went onto win the match 6-1.
