Portland State suited up just five student-athletes for the match, but the Sea Lions took no pity on the Vikings. After the Vikings forfeited on court 3 in doubles, the duo of
Samantha Neilson and
Faith Pearson captured the double point for PLNU with a 6-2 win on court 2. That win, combined with another forfeit on court 6 in singles, the Sea Lions entered singles play with the 2-0 lead.

Rachel Whittington made quick work of her opponent on court 4 with a 6-1 and 6-2 straight-set win to put PLNU one point away from victory.
Gabi Armas finished captured the victory for the Sea Lions with a three-set win on court 5 outlasting her opponent, 6-0, 3-6 and 6-2.
