(SURPRISE, Ariz.) PLNU Women's Tennis' season ended in the Round of 16 at the NCAA Championships on Tuesday with a 4-1 defeat to No. 5 seed Findlay.

Point Loma, seeded No. 12 in the 16-team national championships, were tied with Findlay in doubles after
Alina Kupfer and
Perla Conde Vendrell won their No. 2 doubles matchup by a 6-3 margin.

However, the Oilers went on to win the doubles point to go up 1-0 before winning three of the four singles matches to finish.

Conde Vendrell picked up the Sea Lions' point with her straight-set 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles.

Kupfer, the ITA West Region Senior Player of the Year, came back to win her second set, 6-4, on Court No. 1.

Zoe Moley was then leading 3-1 in her second stanza at No. 5 when Findlay clinched the overall match.

Point Loma finishes the season with an 18-5 overall record, marking the third straight season the Sea Lions have lost five or fewer matches.

PLNU reached the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive season after advancing past the NCAA West Regional, in which Point Loma appeared for the fifth straight year.

The Sea Lions finished just one round shy of their best ever NCAA postseason run, achieved last season when PLNU made it to the national quarterfinals.
