The Sea Lions grabbed the first point of the match with a win in doubles. APU won the first doubles match 6-3 on court 3, but PLNU quickly answered back behind
Alejandro Castaneda and
Lukas Schuster on court 2 win a 6-2 win.
Yuki Okamoto and
Tyler Davis then clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win on court 1.

In singles, the Sea Lions were unable to overcome the Cougars' top two players which are both ranked in the top 10 nationally. No. 4 ranked Jakob Schnaitter won on court 1 and No. 9 Sam Sippel won on court 2 to put the Cougars up 2-1. APU tacked on another point with a win on court 4 before getting the clinching point on court 6.
