SURPRISE, Ariz. – The Point Loma women's tennis team advanced to the quarterfinals of the PacWest Championships after defeating Chaminade 4-0.
Point Loma gathered the doubles point quickly.
Amanda Letzring and
Thelma Sepulveda shut out their opponents, defeating them 6-0 to gain the early advantage. Samantha Nielson and
Faith Pearson quickly shut down any hope the Silverswords had of gaining the doubles point. The duo clinched the doubles point with a 6-0 win over their opponent.
Angelique Friedrich and
Gabi Armas were up 3-2 in their match when the point was clinched.
As the match moved to singles play Pearson, Armas, and Neilson kept the same pattern going.
Samantha Neilson was the first to finish winning her match 6-0 and 6-0 over her opponent.
Gabi Armas quickly followed suit gathering the third point for the Sea Lions.
Faith Pearson gathered the ultimate clinching point for the Sea Lions with a straight-set victory over her opponent 6-0 and 6-0.
Friedrich, Sepulveda, and Letzring were all up one set when Point Loma clinched the match.
The win pushes PLNU into the quarterfinals.
