SURPRISE, Ariz. – The Point Loma men's tennis team advanced to the consolation championship at the PacWest Championships after a 4-0 over Colorado Mesa.
Colorado Mesa got the early advantage with a win in the No. 2 position during doubles play. Point Loma fought back and won the next two sets to clinch the doubles point.
Jasdeep Paintal and
David Strassburger evened doubles play after a 6-4 win over their opponents.
Tyler Davis and
Yuki Okamoto then sealed the doubles play point with a 7-5 match victory.
With all the momentum on their side, PLNU did not slow down.
Tyler Davis quickly picked up the second point for PLNU with a straight-set victory in the No. 1 position.
David Strassburger extended the lead for the Sea Lions also winning in straight sets.
Lukas Schuster sealed the victory for the Sea Lions with a three-set win in the No. 5 position.
With the win over Colorado Mesa, Point Loma advances to the consolation championship.
